Once the operating system and applications have been chosen; Microsoft have designed a variety of ways you can buy your licences depending on who you are and your requirements.
Most hardware manufacturers are able to supply, pre-installed, Microsoft operating systems for your servers, desktop and laptops. This OEM software is fully compliant with Microsoft licensing requirements and provides a licence for the machine it has been installed onto.
Companies requiring either software not available on the OEM program or wanting the flexibility to install software on whichever machine they want can choose can purchase from Open or Select Agreements. Open Agreements provide more cost effective ways of purchasing Microsoft software whilst gaining additional benefits like fixed pricing over a three year period making budgeting easier. Select Agreements provide an on-going arrangement catering for larger companies with more than 250 PC’s giving substantial discounts on the volume of software you use.
Public Sector organisations gain greater value through greater discounting than a company would receive with specific licensing agreements for the needs of schools and colleges.
